Job Description

We are looking for an experienced BI Developer to join us at Iotatech.

In this role, you will consult and develop BI solutions for our clients, using the AWS stack, to meet their requirements and provide insights and accurate views of their business performance. The role will be a hands-on role with client-facing activities. You will also become familiar with the embedded analytics solution, ThoughtSpot. Your responsibilities will range from participating in analytics workshops, gathering and agreeing requirements, to developing solutions and assisting customers to get the best out of these solutions.

You will be expected to leverage a full set of business intelligence and management information skills, strategies and best practice in order to successfully meet the product’s vision and client requirements within dynamic environments.

The successful candidate will understand data requirements, design and build appropriate and scalable BI solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to bring your experience and ideas to the team to help design and develop our BI solution and support it as we continually develop and enhance our insurance platform.

Location / Hours

  • Richmond, London
  • 37.5 hours per week


  • £50,000 – £70,000 per annum
  • Equity options through an approved EMI scheme

  • Analyse, understand and define client needs, objectives and business drivers and design and demonstrate a solution that best meets the clients’ requirements
  • Facilitate and run client workshops
  • Work with clients to gather and document requirements, offer technical solutions and demonstrate the value of the solution (not just the functionality)
  • Design and automate ETL solutions for multiple source data
  • Architect and extend logical data models to facilitate self-service data analysis
  • Ensure the data is collected, cleansed, consolidated, aggregated & analysed
  • Carry out solution enhancements/modifications to a high standard
  • Provide client training and support

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience in data modelling, data marts, data cubes, star and snowflake schemas
  • Data plumbing experience – ETL, ELT, data integration and data transformation in complex multi-source data solutions
  • Design and implementation of data structures
  • Strategic thinker who can show strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong SQL and NoSQL skills with good experience working with structured and semi-structured data sets including XML and JSON
  • Developing dashboards/Pinboards in BI platforms – preferably ThoughtSpot
  • Good working knowledge of AWS analytics and integration solutions
  • Managing code using git/bitbucket
  • Practical experience to Agile development methodologies
  • Ability to work well under pressure, both as part of the team and on own initiative
  • Articulate and confident with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Client facing, demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Resourceful, energetic and enthusiastic, prepared to go the “extra mile”
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve professional success

Desired Skills

  • General Insurance claims and policy systems experience
  • Have knowledge and experience in ThoughtSpot
  • Delivered analytics solutions using AWS stack
  • AWS Certification
  • Programming experience in Java, Kotlin, Python, other
  • Experience in designing analytics solutions for microservices architected systems
  • Ability to demonstrate solutions in pre-sales activities
  • Good educational background ideally up to degree level, or equivalent, in a related subject
